Evelyn Hey
Executive Director

Evelyn Hey has been the principal of SBCSICA since it opened its doors in August 2005. She has over 25 years of experience in teaching and administration within the NYC public schools. She has expertise in professional development, thematic curriculum planning, bilingual curriculum programs, balanced literacy, best practices, and instructional leadership. She earned a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Bank Street College and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Good Counsel College.

Elvira Maresca
Elementary School
Principal

Elvira Maresca served this past year as Assistant to the Executive Director of SBCSICA. She has 36 years of experience in the NYC Department of Education as a bilingual teacher, Technology staff Developer, and Chancellor’s Program Review Specialist. Ms.Maresca served first as an Assistant Principal from 1999 to 2009 and then as Principal from 2009 to 2021 of Public School 36 in the Union Port section of the Bronx located in School District 8. During this time P.S. 36 was one of the top ranking elementary schools in District 8. As an administrator, Ms. Maresca worked on creating an environment that fostered self respect toward educational excellence and encouraged students to pursue their goals and discover their future. She holds a Master's degree from New York University in Arts and Technology.


Principal
Nick Marinacci
High School/Middle School Principal

Nick Marinacci is the middle and high school principal at SBCSICA. Nick most recently served as Deputy Superintendent of NYC Alternative Schools. Before that, he was an executive principal and a principal in New York City and a teacher in both New York City and Washington DC. Some of Nick's awards include nomination as a Hometown Hero by the New York Daily News, a NYC Educational Technology Summit Award, The Austin H MacCormick Award for Outstanding Leadership, and selection into the Cahn Fellows Program for Distinguished Principals at Columbia University's Teachers College. Nick received a bachelor's degree in History from the College of William and Mary, a master's degree in Elementary Education from Lehman College, and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Baruch College. He is proud to have entered the teaching profession through Teach for America and completed his principal training through New Leaders for New Schools.
