South Bronx Charter School for
International Cultures and the Arts High School
In September 2022, the South Bronx Charter School
for International Cultures and the Arts will expand to
serve high school grades and welcome its first 9th
grade class. As a performing arts high school, our
students will take core curriculum classes – English,
Spanish, math, social studies, and science – and
choose to follow either a fine arts, theatrical arts,
dance, or music pathway towards graduation.

Prior to the start of the 2023-24 school year, SBCSICA High School intends to move into its permanent facility at 2500 Park Avenue. The newly constructed site will offer students a state-of-the-art learning environment that will include a performing arts theater, a dance studio, a gymnasium, and a science lab.

Our permanent facility was custom designed to incorporate classrooms that maximize technology, foster an atmosphere of collaborative learning, and embrace the outside world, most notably, the community surrounding the school.

In addition to the school’s core academic program and
performing arts studios, SBCSICA High School will
have sports teams that will compete against high

In the 2022-23 school year, SBCSICA High School will operate out of a temporary location, as the construction on our permanent facility is completed. The temporary site will be equipped to offer students a technologically based learning environment, which will include space for each of our arts’ studios. For example, the high school will have a recording studio, where students can learn how to record and produce music.

SBCSICA High School will also offer students electives, such as a robotics club and a hydroponics program. The hydroponics program will result in the growth of fresh produce, which will be a major source of the school’s food services.
SBCSICA High School Science Lab
SBCSICA High School Lobby will be an area where the arts disciplines offered to students will be on full display. As people enter the performing arts theater, they will be exposed to visual art created by students, both past and present, as well as works created by artists that have a relationship with the school. This design is inspired by lobbies at the world’s most famous performing arts theaters.
