Evelyn Hey
Executive Director
Evelyn Hey has been the principal of SBCSICA since it opened its doors in August 2005. She has over 25 years of experience in teaching and administration within the NYC public schools. She has expertise in professional development, thematic curriculum planning, bilingual curriculum programs, balanced literacy, best practices, and instructional leadership. She earned a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Bank Street College and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Good Counsel College.
Johanna Alfonzo
Principal
Johanna Alfonzo has worked at SBCSICA as a founding teacher since it opened its doors in August 2005. She has over 16 years of teaching experience at SBCSICA. Her years of experiences range in the capacities of curriculum builder, instructional coach, master teacher, staff developer and Title one Coordinator. Ms. Alfonzo holds a dual Masters degree in Childhood and Special Education and a Masters in School Leadership and Administration from The College of Saint Rose.
Deborah Vila-Tricomi
Academic Advisor
Deborah Vila-Tricomi joined SBCSICA in August 2009 bringing 15 years
of experience ranging from adjunct lecturer and field supervisor at
Hunter College to working as an assistant principal and consultant in New
York City and metropolitan area schools. Being continuously involved
in restructuring initiatives with administrators, teachers and parents in
an urban setting, has given her a broad understanding of the strengths
and challenges that face students. Ms. Vila-Tricomi’s role has been
to bring knowledge and resources of best practice in the areas of
literacy, social studies and bilingual education, supporting teachers to
enhance their professional growth and make a difference in the educational
experience of their students. Ms. Vila-Tricomi holds a Masters degree in
Bilingual Education from Hunter College and a Masters in Educational Leadership
from Bank Street College.
